Bison in Nebraska - Original Painting
11.25" x 11.25"
Oil on Wood
Reclaimed Oak Floating Frame
This is part of series on Nebraska's Historic Animals. These species shaped the ecology and culture of the area and were painted at 8 Nebraska State Historical Parks across Nebraska.
Painted at Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park outside of North Platte, Nebraska.
While Buffalo Bill spread Western culture around the world for a few decades, the bison shaped midwest culture for thousands of years beforehand. The Native American tribes, some of whom appeared in Bill’s wild west shows, were dependent upon bison herds and centered their lifestyle around this species. This bull stands tall, overlooking the prairie.
