This is part of series on Nebraska's Historic Animals. These species shaped the ecology and culture of the area and were painted at 8 Nebraska State Historical Parks across Nebraska.
This was painted at Bowring Ranch State Historical Park in Western Nebraska.
This historical park is still a working ranch as it has been since 1894, it’s former residents, U.S. Senator Eve Bowring and her husband lived here.
It is the home of the Bar 99 Hereford. This one overlooks one of the many windmills that dot the sandhills in Western Nebraska, pumping pristine water from the Ogallala Aquifer below, a lifeline for humans and cattle alike.
